Managing Multiple Portfolios
How to create and switch between multiple portfolios in Luum, understand the demo portfolio, and see aggregated net worth across all accounts.
Luum lets you manage multiple portfolios — one per brokerage account or manually created — and view them both individually and in aggregate. This guide explains how the multi-portfolio experience works.
How portfolios map to accounts
Each portfolio in Luum represents one brokerage account connection or one manual portfolio. If you have a TFSA and an RRSP at the same broker, they typically appear as separate accounts in the Snaptrade connection and will create separate portfolios in Luum.
You can rename any portfolio from the portfolio settings page to make them easier to tell apart (e.g., “Questrade TFSA”, “Wealthsimple RRSP”).
Switching between portfolios
The portfolio selector appears at the top of the sidebar and in the header. Click it to switch between portfolios. The dashboard, allocation charts, and performance charts all update to reflect the selected portfolio.
Aggregate view
To see all portfolios combined, select All portfoliosfrom the portfolio selector. The aggregate view shows:
- Combined market value and daily change
- Combined allocation by sector, geography, and account type
- Net worth (all portfolios + any manual assets added in Net Worth)
- Holdings across all portfolios, with duplicates merged by symbol
The demo portfolio
Every Luum account includes a demo portfolio — 10 pre-populated positions with 14 months of synthetic transaction history. The demo portfolio is designed to let you explore all features (including Wealth-tier tools) before you connect a live brokerage.
The demo portfolio is always excluded from:
- Net worth totals
- All-portfolios aggregation
- Goal progress calculations
- Tax Centre capital gains reports
Demo data cannot be edited. It is refreshed periodically to reflect current market conditions. You can hide the demo portfolio from the sidebar in Settings → Portfolios → Hide demo.
Portfolio limits by tier
| Tier | Live brokerage portfolios | Manual portfolios |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | 0 (demo only) | 1 |
| Investor | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Wealth | Unlimited | Unlimited |
Deleting a portfolio
To delete a portfolio, go to Portfolio Settings → Delete portfolio. For connected brokerage portfolios, this also removes the brokerage connection. Deletion is permanent — all transaction history, ACB data, and gains records for that portfolio are removed.
