Exporting Your Data

How to export your portfolio data from Luum — capital gains PDFs, CSV transaction exports, and what each file contains.

Luum lets you export your portfolio and tax data for use in tax software, spreadsheets, or for your own records. This guide covers all available export formats and where to find them.

Capital gains PDF (Canada)

A formatted PDF report of all dispositions in a selected tax year, suitable for your records or sharing with a tax advisor.

How to download: Tax Centre → Capital Gains → select year → Download PDF.

What it contains:

  • Account holder name and tax year
  • Per-disposition table: security, date sold, units sold, proceeds, ACB, commissions, and capital gain/loss
  • Annual totals: gross proceeds, total ACB, net capital gain/loss
  • Disclaimer noting the report is for informational purposes

Capital gains CSV (T5008 style, Canada)

A spreadsheet-format export of the same capital gains data, designed for import into tax preparation software such as TurboTax or UFile.

How to download: Tax Centre → Capital Gains → select year → Export CSV.

1099-B CSV (US)

A CSV export formatted for US tax software, covering all dispositions in a selected tax year with short-term and long-term gain/loss classifications.

How to download: Tax Centre → Capital Gains → select year → Export CSV.

What it contains:

  • Description of property (quantity, symbol and security name)
  • Date acquired — reported as VARIOUS, because average-cost pooling does not preserve a per-lot acquisition date
  • Date sold
  • Proceeds and cost basis, in your reporting currency
  • Gain or loss per disposition

CUSIP and short-term / long-term classification are not included — the latter needs per-lot acquisition dates, which average-cost pooling does not keep.

Wash-sale adjustments not included. The 1099-B CSV does not apply wash-sale rule adjustments. Your tax software or advisor must handle those.

Transaction history CSV

A full export of all raw transactions in your portfolio — buys, sells, dividends, and contributions — for any connected or manual portfolio.

How to download: Portfolio → Settings → Export transactions.

What it contains:

  • Transaction date and type (Buy, Sell, Dividend, Transfer)
  • Security symbol and name
  • Quantity and price per unit
  • Commission paid
  • Total transaction value in reporting currency

Account data export (GDPR / PIPEDA)

You can request a complete export of all data Luum holds about your account — including profile information, all portfolio and transaction data, and audit logs.

How to request: Settings → Account → Request data export. The export is prepared in the background and delivered to your registered email address within 24 hours as a ZIP file containing JSON and CSV files.
